Subway Station — CVL Performance Profile
The Subway Station is one of the most stable custom Workshop maps available. Thanks to excellent lighting bakes and moderate prop counts, the map performs exceptionally well across all standard configurations, including portable consoles and Mac translation layers.

Performance Analysis & Optimization
Steam Deck
The Subway Station maintains a solid, locked 60 FPS under standard gaming conditions.
- Optimization: Set graphics preset to Medium and keep Anti-Aliasing on Medium. Enabling FSR in the Steam Deck’s Quick Access Menu with a small resolution scale offset will guarantee zero drops even during intense search sweeps. Refer to Steam Deck Hider Tips for button configurations.
Mac OS (Wine/CrossOver)
The level runs perfectly on M1, M2, and M3 Macs.
- Optimization: Use the default D3DMetal translation engine. Ensure Esync is turned on in your bottle settings. The map loads fast and has no memory leak warnings. For audio adjustments, check the Mac Player Survival Guide.
Low-End PCs
Even older setups with older graphics cards (like the GTX 960) can easily sustain 60 FPS.
- Optimization: Keep shadows on Medium or Low to avoid any performance loss when seekers activate their flashlights.
Safe Subscribe Workflow
To avoid download queue locks and server desyncs:
- Subscribe directly to the map via Steam client Workshop.
- Allow the Steam client download queue to complete before starting the game.
- Pre-run the map locally on your client once to ensure train physics configurations have cached successfully. For download issues, see Workshop Download Stuck.
