Expected Patch Breakdown
Based on recent public beta updates and developer commits on the official Discord tech channel, patch v1.8.1 targets stability in multiplayer networking, texture compression algorithms, and client memory allocation.
1. Matchmaking and P2P Audio Fixes
- Resolved: Handshake timeouts occurring when cross-region invite connections attempt to bypass router NAT profiles.
- Epic Online Services Integration: Upgrading to the latest EOS SDK to address the recurring Authentication Token Error.
- Proximity Voice: Resolving voice packet drop that occurs when lobbies exceed 8 active players. Refer to the Voice Chat Not Working Fix for manual settings.
2. Graphics and Rendering Optimizations
- Derived Data Cache: Fixing memory leaks inside Unreal Engine 5’s virtual texturing pipeline. This is expected to reduce the occurrences of the Black Screen on Loading Error on mid-tier GPUs.
- VRAM Allocation: Decompressing lighting shaders for Osaka and custom Workshop maps to prevent Out of Memory crashes on launch. See the Crash on Launch Fix for manual overrides.
