Library Workshop Map Guide
The Library Workshop map is a medium-sized, quiet indoor level for Meccha Chameleon. It features rows of tall bookshelves, reading tables, study carrels, a central atrium with a skylight, and a dimly lit archive section in the back. The repeating vertical book spine textures and warm wood tones make it an excellent map for pattern-based camouflage.
This guide provides a comprehensive breakdown of the map’s layout, hiding strategies, and seeker counter-tactics.
Map Overview & Layout Analysis
The Library is organized as a grid of bookshelf aisles connected by a central atrium:

- Main Bookshelf Aisles: The core of the map. Dozens of tall wooden shelves filled with colorful book spines create repeating vertical patterns.
- Central Atrium: An open area with a glass skylight providing strong overhead lighting. Few hiding spots here.
- Archive Section: A dimly lit back area with metal rolling stacks and low ceilings. High contrast between lit and shadowed zones.
- Study Carrels: Individual desk cubicles with fabric partitions and task lighting.
Detailed Hider Strategies
1. Book Spine Pattern Alignment
The repeating vertical book spines are the Library’s greatest camouflage asset.
- Positioning: Stand flush against a bookshelf, aligning your body with a row of similarly-colored spines.
- Painting: Paint vertical stripes on your body matching the width and color of adjacent book spines. Use warm browns, deep reds, and navy blues.
- Pose: Use the standing pose to match the shelf height. The Curl pose works for lower shelves.
- Reflectivity: Set roughness to
0.6to match the paper texture of book covers. - For paint technique details, see the Painting Basics Guide.
2. Study Carrel Desk Hiding
The fabric partitions between study carrels create excellent blind spots.
- Positioning: Crouch behind a desk partition, aligning your upper body with the partition edge.
- Painting: Match the fabric color (typically dark grey or navy) on your upper half, and use desk-wood tones on your lower half.
- Result: Seekers sweeping the carrel row will see you as part of the partition furniture.
3. Archive Shadow Camping
The back archive section has low lighting and metal rolling stacks.
- Positioning: Stand between two rolling stacks in the darkest corner.
- Painting: Use near-black with subtle metallic highlights to match the metal stack frames.
- Result: The low ambient light makes you nearly invisible without a direct flashlight beam.
4. Reference Desk PC Tower Integration
The central reference desk features multiple desktop computer monitors and black CPU towers.
- Positioning: Stand directly behind a computer monitor chassis, aligning your model with the black plastic frame.
- Painting: Paint your body matte black (roughness 0.5, metallic 0.1) and add a small, glowing green or blue LED dot on your shoulder to simulate the power indicator light.
- Result: Seekers walking past the desk will visually combine your silhouette with the computer chassis.
Seeker Counters
1. Bookshelf Aisle Sweeps
Clear the aisles methodically by checking each shelf at multiple heights.
- Action: Walk each aisle slowly, shining your flashlight at the shelf face from a side angle.
- Detection: Look for characters whose paint pattern doesn’t perfectly match the book spine spacing. Even a slight misalignment in stripe width reveals a hider.
2. Skylight Shadow Analysis
The central atrium’s skylight casts strong directional shadows.
- Action: Stand in the atrium and observe the shadow patterns on the floor. Hiders moving through the light zones will cast visible shadows.
- Detection: Watch for shadows that move independently of the furniture.
3. Aisle Collision Run-throughs
Because hiders fit tightly into the bookshelf corridors, they block the narrow pathways.
- Action: Run down the center of the bookshelf stacks, brushing against the shelf lips.
- Detection: If your movement is stopped mid-stride by an invisible object, swing your melee tool or fire to secure the catch.

Platform Compatibility & Performance (CVL)
- Steam Deck: Rated Stable. The map performs well at 40 FPS. Simple geometry keeps VRAM usage low.
- Mac CrossOver: Rated Playable (with tweaks). Minor shader stuttering on first load. Pre-compile shaders in a local lobby.
